Black Culture saved the day, even if they don’t appreciate the shit..
Black Culture is embedded in our society. It’s embedded so Mariana Trench deep, that white people can take Black Culture, use it as if they created it, and have the utmost fucking confused look on their face after we call them out for appropriating our culture. Maybe it’s our fault. Maybe it’s our fault because we create shit that’s so dope, the expectation of thievery is reasonable.

For centuries, they have taken our delicately seasoned culture, our style, our physical features and our struggle, and colonized it for unseasoned profits. But we still give it to them, anyway. Black Culture, through the form of DJ D-Nice’s Instagram Live show served as a short term vaccine to the Coronavirus Quarantine that has enveloped most of the world. And Black Culture, via DJ D-Nice, saved the world, last night.
In other words, if Corona is Thanos, DJ D-Nice is a whole Avenger.

Black Culture gave the world an outlet. A place to listen to music—to black music—that makes you feel good inside. Black Culture created that music. Black Culture created black music, black music full of pain, joy, sorrow, heartbreak, love, anger, poverty and oppression. Black music is attached to so many emotions that cover both heaven and hell, it makes sense that it serves as the ultimate remedy during times like this.
It serves as the ultimate remedy against an existential threat, because existential threats birthed black music. Existential threats birthed Black Culture.
Black Culture was birthed from the trauma of slavery and white supremacy, and it’s forever evolving. Black Culture has highlighted and continues to highlight every stage of the African American experience in this country, and does so by creating unfiltered art. Art so, so good, it makes the most privileged among us want to be oppressed. They want that “authentic” oppression so they can do what? Authentically steal our shit? Fuck if I know. But during times like this, that doesn’t matter as much. Because of this pandemic, we decided to share our art with the rest of the world. Why? Because this pandemic—this virus—doesn’t discriminate. For better or worse, we are all in this together.
Because of this non-discriminatory existential threat, everyone was invited, last night.
And so we ALL jammed out from the comfort of our homes, thanks to DJ D-Nice. Drinks in hand, as the biggest party in social media history saw every verified and non verified Instagram account walk through it’s doors, as we partied the night away to Luther, Marvin, Quincy, Buju, Michael, Tina and a slew of other black artists everyone knows on a first name basis.
Aside from the brave health care workers that are fighting to protect our way of life, black culture is here. Here to save both the appreciative and unappreciative.
