WNBA Superstar Brittney Griner who has been held captive in a Russian prison for nearly 10 months is finally being released in exchange for Russian Arms dealer Viktor Bout.
President Biden stated that Griner is safe. She is on a plane and on her way home.
Bout was a prominent arms dealer in the 1990s and was arrested in 2008 after a sting operation and has been in prison until today.
Due to the release Bout is only going to serve half of his prison sentence.
We are extremely happy and relieved for Brittney Griner and her wife Cherrelle who has been fighting passionately for her return to the states. After being in what amounted to a Russian prison camp, Griner will undergo physicals and evaluations to ensure that she is ok. And ok under the circumstances she experienced is a relative term.
Brittney we are glad to have you home and wishing you much love and peace as you try to return to some semblance of normalcy.
