John Singleton, director of multiple critically-acclaimed films, suffered a stroke on April 17, 2019. Conflicting details surrounding the state of his health have been reported with his publicist releasing a statement on April 29 that Singleton remains in a coma. Having directed such iconic films as Boyz n the Hood, Poetic Justice, Higher Learning, Rosewood, and 2 Fast 2 Furious, he solidified himself as one of the most talented directors in Hollywood. His sudden illness comes as a shock to the arts community and many have come to social media to express hope that he will recover and regain his health.
