News dropped Recently that Issa Rae will be producing and starring in a remake of the classic film “Set It Off”. The classic, directed by F. Gary Gray “Friday” “Law Abiding Citizen” “Straight Outta Compton” tugs at the heart strings and launched the acting careers on major levels for Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Vivica Fox, & Kimberly Elise. Rae is known for her comedic prowess and has a huge following from her hit HBO series “Insecure” but the hard hitting crime drama is a new arena & it would be very interesting to see her take as a true Los Angeles Native taking on the story which is set in The City of Angels.

Set It Off is an iconic film that genuinely has withstood the test of time. It highlighted sisterhood, sexuality, struggle, and even police brutality in a way that could be explored in even more detail today. In all honesty, Set it Off is a compelling enough story to literally write a few think pieces on (lol I’ll save that for later).
