Mayor Pete Butti-Whatever Lets Founding Fathers Slide On The Whole Slavery Thing

Mayor Pete Buttigieg is a lying mf.

But this has been well established. And this lying mf also seems to be an ignorant mf, at least when it comes to U.S. History. Now, Mayor Pete Buttigieg is a Harvard graduate and a Rhodes Scholar, so if he is ignorant, then the mf is willfully ignorant, because those two programs are worth at least 300K, and I find it hard to believe that a 300K education didn’t go over U.S. History. Like, you really mean to tell me that this mf has 300K worth of education and doesn’t know shit about the history of slavery in this country?

*Wait, wait, wtf are you talking about?*

Oh shit, my bad. So, Mayor Pete Buttig, you know what, I’m tired of spelling that hard ass name, so henceforth, I’m referring to the willfully ignorant mf as Mayor Pete or just a willfully ignorant mf. Anyway, a 2011 video surfaced of Mayor Pete talking about slavery. Now, for one, the video quality is the equivalent of those old ass tapes we would watch in class whenever either the substitute teacher was there that day, or our teacher had a massive hangover and didn’t feel like teaching shit that day.

In the video, the willfully ignorant mf stated, “It’s an embarrassing thing to admit, the people who wrote the Constitution did not understand that slavery was a bad thing…”

What in Black Hell aka Ronald Reagan Heaven does that even mean? You mean to tell me that this willfully ignorant mf thought that this country’s Founding Fathers were ignorant themselves on how awful slavery was?

Horseshit.

Horseshit for many reasons. First off, any other time politicians love to give credit to the Founding Fathers for EVERY thing. So why can’t they receive credit for the bad shit? Well, like many white politicians, Mayor Pete refuses to assign blame for the immense tyranny and suffering this country has caused to those not named “white male.” And if “some” blame is assigned, they paint a picture of “ahh, shucks” ignorance, as if the same founding fathers they label as geniuses went full “Shawt Bus Shawty” when it came to the idea and institution of slavery. Politicians, especially the national ones, campaign as if the founding fathers’ shit didn’t stink, when in fact the shit stunk. It stunk very, very much.

It stunk to the point that you would’ve thought all they ate were Vienna sausages from the can.

So, for Mayor Pete to excuse and minimize the most harmful act this country has ever committed to a simple case of “the ignorance” is ignorant.

Also, does Mayor Pete realize that of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, 41 owned slaves? With that 300K education, I hope tf so. And of those 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence, some of the signers were considered key Founding Fathers. Now, there is no official consensus among historians on who should be considered the Founding Fathers, but for the sake of time and word count, let’s apply the title to those leaders who initiated the Revolutionary War and framed the Constitution.  And if we were to break it down to the key Founding Fathers, aka the most influential, then the “top tier” Founding Fathers would probably be:

1.) George Washington (Slave Owner and the first (Racist) President)

2.) Thomas Jefferson (Slave Owner, Author of the Declaration of Independence and the Swirl OG)

3.) Alexander Hamilton (Abolitionist and also from the expensive ass play, Hamilton)

4.) John Jay (Former Slave Owner and the first Supreme Court Chief Justice)

5.) James Madison (Slaver Owner, “father” of the U.S. Constitution and also a racist President)

6.) Samuel Adams (Tea Party Thrower, said fuck Britain and something about beer)

7.) Benjamin Franklin (Former Slaver Owner, Invented some shit, Diplomat and international playa)

8.) John Adams (HBO made a miniseries about him based on the book, John Adams, which wasn’t half bad)

So.Much.Caucasian

Of the “top tier” Founding Fathers, 5 of the 8 were slave owners. And of those 5 slave owners, John Jay, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson questioned, out loud, the issue of slavery and essentially deemed it immoral. However, while many of the Founding Fathers acknowledged that slavery violated the core American Revolutionary ideal of liberty, their simultaneous commitment to private property rights, principles of limited government, and their quest to form one, unified nation, which included areas that were pro slavery, prevented them from making a bold move against slavery. The considerable investment of Southern Founders in slave-based staple agriculture, combined with their deep-seated racial prejudice, posed additional obstacles to emancipation.

Even Thomas Jefferson, the person who drafted the Declaration of Independence, which stated, axiomatically, that “all men are created equal” wrote a version of the Declaration of Independence that was different from the finalized version we all know and “love” today. In his initial draft of the Declaration of Independence, condemned the injustice of the slave trade and, by implication, slavery, but he also blamed the presence of enslaved Africans in North America on greedy ass British colonial policies. Therefore, Jefferson aka the Swirl OG acknowledged that slavery violated the natural rights of those enslaved, while simultaneously absolving (letting em slide) Americans of any responsibility for owning slaves themselves.

Jefferson had his cake and ate it too. Essentially, he pulled a Mayor Pete. Or, well, Mayor Pete pulled a Jefferson.

At the end of the Second Continental Congress meeting at the Pennsylvania State House (now known as Independence Hall) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Continental Congress apparently rejected the tortured logic of this passage by deleting it from the final document. However, this decision exemplified the Founding Fathers’ commitment to minimizing the controversial issue of slavery in exchange for the larger goal of securing the unity among the recently declared independent colonies.

In other words, fuck black folks, for now, at least.

Speaking of Founding Fathers, did that 300K education inform Mayor Pete that some Founding Fathers actively attempted to abolish the institution of slavery? John Jay, who was the son of one of the largest slaveholders in New York and Alexander Hamilton were among a group of abolitionist who founded the New York Manumission Society in 1785, which established the New York African Free School in 1787. That year, during debate on the Constitution, one of the most-vocal opponents of slavery among the Founding Fathers, Gouverneur Morris, called slavery a “nefarious institution” and “the curse of heaven on the States where it prevailed.”

So yes, Mayor Pete, the people who wrote the constitution and the Founding Fathers did in fact know slavery was a bad thing. This recognition was exhibited time and time again, as the Founding Fathers constantly kept “kicking the can down the road” in order to achieve, assiduously, a united nation (Which ultimately didn’t mean shit. See Civil War. No, not Captain America: Civil War, even though that’s good as mfer).

Mayor Pete’s aka Captain Save-a-Founding Father is a ignorant mf. And that ignorant mf willfully bathes in his ignorance.
