Phoenix Suns makes the first offseason blockbuster trade by acquiring Chris Paul from the Thunder.

With the NBA off-season officially kicking off and the trade moratorium lifted, the Phoenix Suns kicked things off making the first blockbuster trade of the offseason, reporedly acquiring point guard Chris Paul from the Oklahoma City Thunder. In a move that almost certainly makes the Suns a playoff team, they acquired Chris Paul from the Thunder in exchange for Kelly Oubre Jr., Ricky Rubio, Ty Jerome and Jalen Lecque and a 2022 first round pick, per The Athletic’s Shams Charania. According to sources, the first-round pick is protected from the first 12 picks in 2022, the first ten picks in 2023, the first eight selections in 2024 and is unprotected in 2025.
